I love news, and I love audio content. Umano is an app that is aiming to be at the center of those mediums. A few months ago, Instapaper added the ability to have your iOS device read your saved articles to you. It's a nice feature, but it's a computerized voice that is reading. Umano is news from around the web that is narrated by the people. Imagine if you had someone reading your Instapaper backlog to you? That is Umano.
Our sister site, The Sweet Setup, recently picked Droplr as their favorite file sharing service. While there are a lot of great options, Droplr was their favorite. I've used Droplr for a few years now, and it is one of my most used apps. Download Droplr for the Mac and iOS.

I'll admit it: I'm a home screen junkie. I love to look at other people's iPhones. Do they use folders, what's on their dock, which email app do they use? I also believe that looking at other people's home screens is a great way to discover new apps. The folks at Betaworks agree with me. They have released #Homescreen for iOS.

ScreenFlow for the Mac is one of the best screencasting tools around. With ScreenFlow 5, Telestream has delivered some great new features. My favorite one is the built in iPhone or iPad screen recording (lighting connections with iOS 8 and Yosemite only). While QuickTime can do this, having it built right into ScreenFlow greatly simplifies my workflow.
Pixelmator now has an iPad app. I've been a big fan of it on the Mac for a few years. It includes iOS 8 features (Extensions, iCloud Drive, Document Picker, and Handoff), great retouching tools, templates, ability to import/export Photoshop documents, and a lot more. It's available for only $4.99.
Our sister site, The Sweet Setup, picked Omnifocus as their favorite GTD app suite. I've been an Omnifocus user since 2009, and it is an incredible ecosystem. Buy the iPad version, Mac version, and iPhone version on the App Store.
Our sister site, The Sweet Setup, recently picked Scanbot as their favorite scanning app for iOS. We actually wrote about Scanbot a few weeks ago.
Drafts 4 is a wholly revamped version of the popular note-taking and idea-capturing app for iOS. It's got more new features than you can shake a stick at.
John Siracusa's OS X reviews are legendary at this point. With each new version of OS X, he does deep dive into all the changes and upgrades. Before sitting down to use the final version of any OS X update, I always block off a few hours to thoroughly read his lengthy review. His Yosemite review is now available for pre-order on Kindle and iBooks for only $4.99.
