Automatic – 2nd Generation

Automatic is a dongle that plugs into your car's ODB-II port (check to see if your car is compatible) and provides a wealth of data. We wrote about the original one back when it was available for pre-order, and the company has continued to innovate. They've just released the 2nd generation of the Automatic device. It includes all the same features before, but adds some great new ones.

Twelve South HiRise for Apple Watch

After using the Apple Watch for a few weeks now, I can say that a quality charging stand is a must have accessory. While an iPhone can easily lay flat on a nightstand, the watch tends to want to move around. The charging disk included with Apple Watch is also weighted, so it often falls to the floor in the morning. With HiRise for Apple Watch, everything will stay in place.

DataMan Next

I've been testing out DataMan Next for the past few days, and I'm pretty impressed with how it works. It's tracking cellular usage on your iPhone without the use of proxy connections to determine how close you are to your data quota.

iFlicks 2

We wrote about the original iFlicks a few years ago. It has since been replaced by iFlicks 2. iFlicks 2 is my favorite app for converting movies and TV shows while also embedding metadata, artwork, and subtitles.

Freshbooks

As my freelance business has grown over the years, I've had to come up with a more automated way to invoice, submit receipts for reimbursements, and track project expenses. Freshbooks has been a great solution for me for the past few years.

Bloodline

Bloodline is a new Netflix original that follows the Rayburn family. The Rayburns are a prominent family of their Florida Keys community. When the black sheep of the family (Danny) returns home for the 45th anniversary of the Rayburn House, he threatens to disrupt their comfortable life by exposing family secrets. My wife and I watched it over the course of a few days, and I was pulled right into the story. The cast of characters is fantastic, and the story is gripping.

Star Wars Saga in Digital Formats

I'll never understand why it took this long to release Star Wars digitally, but it looks like the wait is finally over. Tomorrow, it will be released on all the major digital video stores. Along with the movies, there are a host of special features. There are some never-before-seen special extras that each movie is including. They range from conversations from key contributors to special in-depth looks at various parts of the movie. The downside to this release: all are special edition versions.

Wi-Fi Signal

WiFi Signal is a really handy app to have running on your Mac. It sits in the menu bar and gives constant updates about the health of your Wi-Fi signal. It will let you know your signal strength, data rate, channel recommendations, and much more. It's only $.99, so there is no reason not to check it out. This is especially helpful when checking signal strength at various parts of your house.

ASUS 13″ Chromebook

Chromebooks are a nice alternative to traditional laptops at a fraction of the cost Mac or PC. For less than $300, you get a laptop with a keyboard and Google Chrome. If you find yourself only using web based applications (Gmail, Facebook, etc), but want the full laptop experience, a Chromebook makes for a nice option.

Fantastical 2 for Mac

I've used every version of Fantastical for every platform since 1.0 was released. I've never thought that the stock Apple apps were that great, and Fantastical is built for exactly how I use my calendar. With version 2.0 for the Mac, Flexibits has changed the game once again.
