Baking Steel
Baking pizza at home seems like it should be a simple project, but it can be a little tricky. The outer crust and the pie center don't always cook evenly, and you might even end up with some burnt zones. The Baking Steel, essentially a flat slab of steel that you use like a pizza stone, will conduct heat more evenly – meaning you can cook faster even at lower temperatures – and give you a more perfectly-cooked pizza as a result.
It can be used in an oven or on a grill, and it's pretty unlikely to crack in half, which is a common problem with pizza stones that aren't handled gently enough. It's somewhat of an eco-friendly product too, being made of recycled metal and pre-seasoned with an organic oil so you can start using it right out of the package.
The 15lb. standard-size Baking Steel (16" x 14" x 1/4″) is $79, while its 30lb. bigger cousin (16" x 14" x 1/2″), which seems to be ideal for baking thicker pizzas, goes for $119.
