County Line Kitchen’s Mason Jar Cold Brew Coffee Kit
Making cold brew coffee at home doesn't have to be an overly complicated affair. All you need is...
- A container for steeping coffee grounds in water overnight.
- A filter to remove those grounds from the coffee concentrate afterward.
It's fairly common knowledge that Mason jars are already ideal options for #1, so the only question is how to take care of the filtering part. That's where County Line Kitchen's Mason jar coffee maker kit comes in. It includes a wide-mouthed Ball jar in your choice of 1- or 2-quart size (see buying options at bottom of post), a lid, a heavy duty stainless steel mesh filter that fits down into the jar, and two silicone seals — one for the filter, one for the lid.
You can probably deduce how it works: Insert the filter basket into the jar, fill it with freshly ground coffee, run water through the grounds until the jar is full, and let it infuse for at least 12 hours (but preferably 18 or 24) before removing the filter and dumping the grounds. The filter is dishwasher safe, so cleanup is truly a breeze.
This lady gives a relatively straightforward overview of the brewer in action:
The company offers a version with a flip-cap lid and a version with a standard stainless steel lid, each of which comes in two sizes (plus an option for the flip-cap lid to include an integrated handle for easy pouring, as pictured below).
As such, you've got a number of buying options to choose from:
— Flip-cap lid —
- 1-quart ($20)
- 1-quart with handle ($23)
- 2-quart ($27)
- 2-quart with handle ($30) ← recommended for both ease of pouring and sheer cold brew quantity
— Stainless steel lid —
