We’ve posted a few of Umbra’s products around here in the past, and they’re always something a bit different from the norm but still nifty. Today’s example is the wooden Wobble Chess Set.

The maple and walnut pieces in this set have spherical steel weighted bases, so they wobble when moved. As for the board itself — which is made from the same maple and walnut, alternating — each square is concave to create smooth, rounded surfaces for the pieces to sit in and remain centered. The wobbly effect this creates during gameplay is charming and somehow makes the game feel more lively.
