Walden Backyards “Stoker Poker” Fire Pit Tool

Over the years, I’ve done my fair share of trying to revive dying campfires by blowing really hard on the embers, with varying levels of success. Whether I get the fire going again or not, I’ll inevitably end up with a face full of smoke and probably some ash going into my lungs.

Products like Pocket Bellows make this an easier thing to attempt without getting your face near the fire (and often more successfully besides), but it’s possible to go even further down this rabbit hole with something like the Stoker Poker by Walden Backyards.

The Stoker Poker is a firewood poker and a bellows blower wrapped into one convenient tool. The poker aspect is constructed from high carbon steel capped by a natural wood handle.

At the end of that handle is a one-way air valve with a stainless steel mouthpiece that you blow through, sending air down the length of the tool and out a pair of openings in the poker head, which should be placed at the base of the fire for best results.

The mouthpiece is easy enough to sanitize, in case multiple people want to help keep the campfire alive.

With this tool in hand, you can consistently keep your embers burning red-hot and move larger pieces of wood around with ease. Even kids can use the blower safely, since smoke can’t travel back up through the air valve.
