Voice Dream Reader
The iPhone and iPad have long been praised for their accessibility technology. While a lot of features are built right into iOS, another app is taking this one step further. Voice Dream Reader is an incredible app that I’ve followed for a long time. It allows you to do text-to-speech from countless sources.
- PDF, Plain text, Word, PowerPoint, RTF, and Google Docs.
- Web articles.
- EPUB eBooks. (DRM-free books only. Kindle and iBooks are not supported.)
- Bookshare Books.
- DAISY text-based books and audiobook.
- Audiobooks in MP3, MP4 or zipped MP3 format.
It offers 36 built-in voices so you can find the one you want (27 are included in the purchase price). It includes high contrast and large font size for low vision readers. It’s also optimized for VoiceOver, Braille and switch control.
You can pause, rewind, change playback speed, and all of the other tools you’d expect in an audio-driven app. I highly recommend it.
You can buy Voice Dream Reader for $14.99 on The App Store.
