Smile Software has released version 5 of TextExpander. TextExpander is one of those apps that I immediately miss when I’m at a Mac other than my own. TextExpander saves you time and effort by expanding short abbreviations into frequently-used text and pictures. Version 5 includes some new features that I’m enjoying.

My favorite new feature is snippet suggestions. I’m one of those people who love using snippets, but am lazy when setting them up. Version 5 will recommend snippets to you based on things you type often. You can also sync your snippets to the iOS version of TextExpander using iCloud (Dropbox was previously the only option). It also adds support for Javascript for automation purposes.

TextExpander 5 is $44.95, but existing users of TextExpander can upgrade for just $19.95.
