‘Super Mario 3D All-Stars’ for Nintendo Switch

Growing up, I was almost always the “non-Nintendo” kid. I had the original NES, but after that it was the Sega Genesis, the original PlayStation, then the PS2, and eventually the PS3 and Xbox 360. I never regretted those console choices, but I was always aware I was missing out on some fun games over on the Nintendo side, especially because it seemed all my friends had N64s and GameCubes and so on.

That’s why I find it exciting that last month, to commemorate the franchise’s 35th anniversary — which, wow, I’m apparently the same age as Mario??? (I just discovered I was born 6 days after the Japanese release) — Nintendo released a trio of classic 3D Super Mario titles in one package for the Nintendo Switch, collectively dubbed Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

This awesome collection bundles together high-definition ports of the following three titles:

  • Super Mario 64
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Super Mario Galaxy

Now I won’t have to go back and buy old used consoles to experience these great games! And what’s more, the collection includes a music player mode where you can listen to a total of 175 tunes from all three titles’ original soundtracks.

Whether you’re wanting to relive your childhood gaming days or you’re finally getting to play these classic Super Mario games for the first time, you can pick up the 3D All-Stars compilation for $56 on Amazon.
