Nimble Quest for iPhone

Remember that Snake game that used to be on Nokia cellphones back in the day? Nimble Quest is an iPhone game that combines the mechanics of Snake with those of a 16-bit RPG.

You choose a hero, hit Play, and it puts your character on an open field with enemies continually spawning across the map. Swipe in different directions to move your character around, and they’ll automatically attack enemies once within range.

As you defeat enemies, they’ll drop items or additional heroes to add to your party. These heroes follow your main character around, forming a sort of “snake”, and just as you’d expect, you must avoid crossing paths with the people in your party, as well as any walls or other obstacles on the map.

If your main hero bites the dust, that’s it; game over. Although you do progress through various stages in the game, each with its own sets of enemies and obstacles, you do not continue from where you left off. You start over from the very beginning each time, always trying to beat your highest streak.

There are also power-ups and special items that can be obtained with the in-game currency, some of which can be bought via in-app purchase.

This is one of those super-addictive games I can’t seem to put down lately, and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already. Mark my words, you’ll be saying “oh, just one more run” to yourself a lot.

It recently dropped its price from $1 to free, but I don’t know how long that will last.
