‘Immortals Fenyx Rising’ for Nintendo Switch

If you took The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and slapped a Greek mythology theme on it, you’d have Ubisoft’s Immortals Fenyx Rising — and I say that with the utmost praise.

This lighthearted open-world adventure borrows heavily from BotW at nearly every level, which is a turn-off for some and a great thing for others, especially as the latter group awaits the release of BotW 2 next year and needs something to tide them over in the meantime.

In IFR you play as a winged demigoddess named Fenyx, who has been tasked with restoring the power of the Greek gods, who have been deposed and transformed by the evil monster giant Typhos.

Along the way, you’ll explore beautiful and dynamic locales, soar through the skies, complete story and side quests, solve physics-based puzzles, visit and complete shrine-like “vaults”, combat enemies of every size, interact with gods and goddesses, and generally have a grand ol’ Zelda-esque time. In the best way, of course.

As I write this on July 31st, 2021, the Standard Edition for Switch is just $25, which is a really good deal. Don’t pass it up!
