DPA d:screet 4060 Omni Mini Lavalier Microphone

If you ever find yourself needing to mic yourself up — whether it’s for a theatatrical performance, live music recording, video/TV appearance, or what have you — the DPA 4060 is a solid microphone choice.

It’s a miniature omnidirectional lavalier that doesn’t have to be aimed directly at the voice, instrument, or other sound source to capture quality sound from it. You also don’t have to worry too much about popping, wind noise, or general sounds from the mic being handled.

It can handle sound pressure levels up to 134 dB before you get any clipping, and it comes with two interchangeable capsule protection grids for different effects:

  1. Soft Boost Grid — This one comes pre-fitted on the mic and gives it a natural-sounding 3 dB soft boost between 8–20 kHz. Useful when the mic is mounted on a performer’s head.
  2. High Boost Grid — When mounted, this one creates a 10 dB boost at 12 kHz. Best used when the mic is placed around the chest area.
