Handmade Wooden Housings for Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons by Aldered Design [Etsy]

Jonathan Herinckx is a mechanical engineer by day and a woodworker by night, and he runs an Etsy store called Aldered Design where he sells handmade wooden accessories for the Nintendo Switch.

His real wood Joy-Con housings are what caught my eye in particular, which come in your choice of white oak or maple on the lighter end (pictured above), or if you want something a little darker, walnut (below).

These are way better than the imitation wood cases you can find on Amazon. They’re far more durable, they won’t peel, and the grain pattern will be totally unique to your set, since it’s…y’know, real wood and not just some veneer.

You have the option of buying the housings alone for $60 per pair, but you’ll have to provide your own Switch-compatible screwdrivers (namely, tri-wing and Phillips heads) to get the original housings off and install the new ones.

However, he does also provide a $68 option where you simply send your Joy-Cons to him and he does the job before sending them back. Very thoughtful of him.
