32 GB SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Having lost my previous jump drive, I’ve been in the market for something new.

Last week, I picked up the excitingly-named 32 GB SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Flash Drive. It had a good rating on Amazon, and supported USB 3, which turns out is awesome.

While I’ve had USB 3-equipped Macs for a while, this is the first USB 3 device I’ve used, and holy cow, is it fast. I’m routinely seeing read/write speeds approach 200 MB/s.

The drive itself is larger than my old one, which is actually good. Protected in a case, the drive slides out easily when needed. And, due to a more traditional construction, it doesn’t suffer from being able to be plugged in upside down like the Verbatim does.

The best part of all this? The Wirecutter just named it the best flash drive on the market. It’s nice to feel justified.
